About The Event

Collaborative & Proactive Solutions: 5 Week PARENT CPS Introductory Course

If you want help improving your understanding of the CPS model, this 5-week course -- conducted entirely by ZOOM video conferencing -- is what you've been waiting for.

This introductory course consists of: The first session focuses briefly on the basic tenets of the model and goes over the ins and outs of the Assessment of Lagging Skills and Unsolved Problems (ALSUP). You'll complete an ALSUP ahead of session 2 and receive specific feedback on the unsolved problems you identified. The remaining sessions are focused on Plan B, and involve having participants audiotape their use of Plan B -- with your kids -- so that we can provide you with individualized feedback and help you improve your skills. Participants will then be asked to audio record a 15-30 min long Plan B attempt with their child to submit ahead of session 5 for specific feedback...which means that transcriptions of audio recordings are shared with the group for everyone's learning. Registration is limited to six participants per training.

Prerequisite: Helpful to have prior knowledge of the CPS model. To be prepared, watch the videos in section #1 "Change Your Lenses." of the Walking Tour: https://www.livesinthebalance.org/walking-tour-parents. Helpful but not required is to watch the videos in sections #2 and #3 of the Walking Tour.

Supervision Sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 12:00 to 1:00 EST. Dates are: January 11, January 18, January 25, February 1, and February 8

FAQs

How will I share my ALSUPs and recordings with the group leader? A Dropbox will be created that only the training group can access. Your email address will be used to invite you to join the Dropbox.

When should I submit audio recordings into the Dropbox? Audio recordings need to be in the Dropbox at least three days prior to the supervision session to provide ample time for review.

How will confidentiality be maintained during the course? Prior to the start of the course, each participant will sign a form indicating that, as with any supervision group, all information shared as part of this learning experience is to be held in strictest confidence. Audio recordings are not downloaded onto any participants' computer, nor that of the leader, and recordings will be deleted from the Dropbox folder once they have been reviewed.

How are the sessions conducted? Sessions are conducted by Zoom Video Conferencing

Can I receive a refund? You can receive a refund 7 days prior to the start date. After that you will receive a credit toward any future workshop with us within 5 years. Credit will not be given if you do not cancel prior to the event.

What if I have more questions? Feel free to contact Liz Rudman at Liz@livesinthebalance.org.
